Our Bronze Aged Brass finish is a living finish that continues to evolve throughout its lifetime. Because the brass remains unlacquered, exposure to air, moisture and daily use gradually enriches the surface, creating an ever-changing patina.
As the darkest finish in the Ottone Hardware collection, Bronze develops more slowly than our lighter finishes. Everyday handling gradually introduces softer highlights across raised surfaces, creating subtle contrast while preserving the rich, dark tones that give the finish its distinctive character. Rather than changing dramatically, it will gain depth and complexity with age.
This slow, natural evolution is one of the defining qualities of solid brass and an intrinsic part of a living finish.
Traditional Craftsmanship in Solid Brass
Each Ottone Hardware piece is produced from solid-cast brass, a material valued for its durability, satisfying weight and timeless appeal. Unlike materials that rely on protective coatings, solid brass naturally resists corrosion, does not rust and possesses inherent antimicrobial properties, making it exceptionally well suited to high-quality cabinet hardware.
Every piece is polished before undergoing a traditional hand-finishing process that produces its distinctive Bronze patina. As this work is carried out by hand, no two pieces are ever completely identical. Gentle variation in colour and texture is an authentic feature of the process, ensuring every cabinet handle, drawer pull, knob and latch possesses its own unique character.
The Bronze Aged Brass finish is particularly suited to interiors where a deeper, more settled appearance is desired. Its rich tones work beautifully with natural timber, painted cabinetry and stone surfaces, bringing warmth and quiet character to both period homes and contemporary renovation projects.
